Thick Description

Thanks to Mr. Ganji's posting my letter in Radio Zameneh, a number of readers have responded to it, some in quite negative terms.

If I have time, I'll write a new piece on the idea of Thick Description, introduced into Cultural Studies by Clifford Geertz. Tentatively, I'll use the term توصيف لايه لايه or تشريح تو به تو as a Persian equivalent for "Thick Description", and I'll translate "Interpretive Theory of Culture" as فرهنگ شناسی معناکاوانه. The term تشريح تو به تو comes from this line of poetry:
در دل خويش طاهره گشت و نديد جز تو را/صفحه به صفحه لا به لا، پرده به پرده تو به تو
